A constrution crew severed a high-pressure gas main at the intersection of Highway 5 and Sixes Road in Cherokee County Monday afternoon, forcing evacuations from area homes and businesses. The break occurred shortly after 2 p.m. A quarter-mile area of Holly Springs has been blocked off. "We have crews there trying to shut the gas off," Atlanta Gas Light spokeswoman Tami Gerke said. "I do expect that this will go through rush hour."
